Title: Clinical Research Nurse Paediatric Allergy (2 posts)
Tenure: 2 years full time (option for flexible working/job share arrangements)
Location: CHI at Temple St, with sessions in Urgent Care Centre, Connolly Hospital
Reporting to: Prof Jonathan Hourihane, RCSI Head of Dept of Paediatrics
Salary: Aligned with the CNM 1 scale
Proposed Start Date: January 6th 2020
Professor Hourihane took up his post as Head of Department of Paediatrics with RCSI in October 2019. These new Clinical Research Nurse posts will focus initially on an already approved and funded cutting-edge peanut immunotherapy study in children between 1 and 4 years old, which is expected to be followed by similar industry funded immunotherapy studies with other common allergenic foods such as milk and egg.
Specifically, the duties of the post are:
• Recruitment and supervision of peanut allergic children referred for allergy testing and diagnostic food challenges. Including
– Performing the key skills required for the immunotherapy studies, including skin prick testing, adrenaline kit training for families and food challenges
– Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the research team and the HSE Nursing staff in the new Allergy Clinic in Connolly
