Save the Date: Fulbright Scholar Masterclass

UCD are delighted to welcome Dr. Norah Johnson, Associate Professor from the College of Nursing Marquette University in Wisconsin and Paediatric Nurse Practitioner, this February, in School of Nursing midwifery and Health Systems, for three weeks on a Fulbright Scholarship.

This is the first time that the school of Nursing midwifery and Health Systems in UCD will welcome a Fulbright Scholar.

During her time with UCD, Dr. Johnson will present a Masterclass on February 15th 6pm-8pm with the title, “Autism Spectrum Disorder: Definition, Diagnostic Process and Behaviour Management in Home and Healthcare Settings.”

There will be no charge for this event but it will have limited seating. UCD will post details of the masterclass on Eventbrite for bookings.

Norah Johnson PhD RN CPNP-PC is a Fulbright Specialist in Global/Public Health. Dr. Johnson grew up in Toronto Canada, where she received her BSc from the University of Toronto (1983), and a Nursing Diploma from Humber College (1985). Her MSN (2001) and PhD (2009) degrees are from Marquette. Dr. Johnson’s past clinical experience includes neuroscience, NICU and OR staff nurse positions at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto Canada, and Primary Care, Neuroscience and Urgent Care nurse practitioner roles at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Currently, Dr. Johnson is involved in interprofessional teaching, research, and service focused on children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities and their families. She developed a copy-righted iPhone and iPad app to prepare persons with autism for medical procedures. For the past seven years she has been part of a Paediatric Nursing Consortium that developed a hospital discharge teaching intervention. She has served in leadership of roles in professional organizations, College of Nursing committees, and the University Intellectual Property Review Board.
